In the process of modernization, China will have to hold a more open attitude towards foreign cultures in the 21st century’s cultural exchange between China and foreign countries. In order to make the relationship between foreign culture and Chinese traditional culture to be well handled, modern precepts and values should be used to re-examine and explain Chinese traditional culture. In this way, Chinese cultural continuity can be passed down in the process of modernization. In order to solve the problems between modernity and continuity, we should keep modernity on top of the continuity and make the modernization of cultural continuity as the final destination. Actually, it is quite difficult to scientifically utilize openness to promote communication and use communication to promote modernization and take advantage of modernization to stimulate continuity. When we take notice of modernization, it will be easy to neglect the cultural continuity, while we carry forward and enrich the fine tradition of our nation, it maybe conflict with the cultural modernization. So the consequences: overlook the cultural continuity, we maybe make the wrong choices when selecting the foreign cultures, while ignore modernization, we maybe excludes the foreign cultures.
