During the 100 years following the Opium War, the imperialist powers launched wars of aggression against China many times, undermining China’s sovereignty and territorial integrity as well as bullying the Chinese people. At the same time, great resistance movements emerged, such as the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom Movement, the Reform Movement of 1898 and the Yihetuan Movement. Among all these movements, the most significant one was the Revolution of 1911 led by Dr. Sun Yat-sen, which overthrew the 2,000-year-old autocratic feudal monarchy, and established the Republic of China. The May 4th Movement of 1919 laid the groundwork for the foundation of the Communist Party of China In 1921. thanks to the birth of the Communist Party of China, revolution in China entered a new stage. Finally, in 1949, the Communist Party of China led Chinese people to the victory of the revolution by liberating China from imperialist oppression, overthrowing the government of the Republic of China and ending the history of semi-colony semi-feudal society.
