China's accession to the World Trade Organization (WTO) will bring about both Challenges and opportunities to the development of Chinese agriculture. Experts believe that in the long run China's WTO entry will exert positive influence in accelerating the modernization of China's farming sector.
Firstly, China's WTO accession is conducive to the opening-up of Chinese agriculture. After its WTO entry, China will, in accordance with international rules, further improve domestic agricultural policies and regulations, optimize the investment environment for agriculture, open up the domestic market, and absorb more foreign capital, technology and managerial expertise into the farming sector, so as to facilitate Chinese agriculture to adopt international practice and accelerate the process of the opening-up of the farming sector to the outside world.
