The purpose of this report is to find out reasons of sponsoring “2009 Super Girl” on Hu’nan TV and evaluate this decision in order to guide next year’s sponsoring policy.
Reasons:
This year’s “Super Girl” was sponsored by our company, as it would be shown on Hu’nan TV. It was expected that this exposure would improve public recognition of the company name and its products because during the break time the candidates, hosts and hostess will make recommendation to our casual clothes.
Advantages & Disadvantages:
We delegated a market research company to conduct an on line research in the week following the broadcast, and this revealed an increase of six percentage points in public awareness of our name in comparison with a year ago. Furthermore, after the program sales increased by nearly 50 percent immediately, compared with the same period in the previous year. Also, since we sponsored it we have received more offers than last years.
The cost of sponsorship had taken up over half the total marketing budget for the current financial year, which was greater than expected. The research found that too many offers led to another problem: it is impossible for the company to complete the tasks punctually because we lack skilled workers and enough equipment.
Recommendation:
It would be advisable that sponsorship should be on the basis of the company’s financial ability and strictly follow its annual budget. Besides, proper investment on staff and new equipment would make contribution to the company’s development.
